This is my latest coding project: A Tetris™ clone with lots of useful
and useless features.
Back in school, in some Computer Science project I
got the idea about a Tetris clone with 2 players playing against each other
on one PC. I pretty much copied the game rules of the old Nintendo
Gameboy™ Tetris and coded Varpotris under Turbo Pascal 7.0 still for
DOS in 320x200 video mode. It featured crappy PC Speaker support and
awful 256 color graphics.
Although the game was still a bit buggy, it already was fun to play.
However I never released it, because there is already enough
anachronistic crap on this website.

Well this old Varpotris rotted one year on my hard drive, until I made the
decission to simply port it for Windows via Delphi.
First I added some decent GUI menus, sound effects, single player support,
then many weeks later 640x480 video resolution and finally
Open-GL support, 2 player TCP/IP Multiplayer support and a Console.
To conclude all the changes, Varpotris has now following features:
- Good looking OpenGL acclerated graphics
- Sound Effects
- Multi Language Support: At the moment only German and English,
if you would like to see your language in Varpotris as well
contact me.
- A Console, together with an Auto-executed Configuration File for
advanced customizing of Varpotris
- A nice and good looking menu interface
- Multiplayer via TCP/IP - Play Varpotris online or in a LAN.
- Multiplayer via Splitscreen - Play Varpotris together
with another player on one PC.
- Singleplayer training mode
The netcode was the last thing, I was working on. There are still
some crash bugs and the multiplayer support is still in an unifnished state.
Somehow I get the feeling this will end up as another corpse on
my hard disk.
